Captain's Report

Captain’s Report – St Michaels Golf Club 9/09/2026

Coastal golf is almost always accompanied by coastal winds and our annual September game at this majestic course was no different.

28 registered players assembled to attempt to tame this challenging course in the 50 KPH southerly wind.

Anthony, the St Michaels director of golf apologised that they had left the windows open and there was nothing they could do about it.

The course was in the best shape in a long time, as they have now finished major course renovations, which has meant several holes out of play for our visits over the past few years.

The greens were very good, and we got our game in before scheduled renovations.

Great to see some more new faces and welcome to new member Billy Chen for his first game, and he brought along Zac McPhillips who we hope to see as regulars in the future.

The golf scoring was very difficult and the top three individual scores managed 30 points each, with the average around 24 points.

The individual countback went to Sam Jooste (13) ahead of Richard Harris (7) and Phil Wilson (31).

The team event of best three scores of the group (Irish something or other) went to the group of Alex McGregor, Brian OManin, Michael Grogan and Barry Hacket.

Nearest the pins went to Phil Wilson on the 5th and Jesse Gooch on the 12th.

Best of luck to the team of 16 players heading to Brisbane for this year’s National Tournament in October and we hope for a big roll up at our next game at Ryde Parramatta on Thursday the 5th of November 2026.( NOTE THIS A MORNING GAME ABOUT 8am TEE OFF).
