Captain's Report

Captain’s Report – The Lakes Golf Club

The weather forecast proved correct with a very warm autumn day providing an extra challenge for the 38 golfers assembled to take on one of Sydney’s prestige golf courses.

The heat was being fanned by a hot north westerly wind which not only made playing conditions uncomfortable but was strong enough to make the golf a battle.

It was Sydney’s hottest day for 800 days with the temperature at the airport at 3pm reaching 39 degrees.

As expected the course was in great condition, having hosted the major pennants the day before, which meant the pin placements from the previous day set the course up with more protection than usual.

Great to see several visitors and three new members in attendance to help increase our numbers to a respectable level.

Golf was followed by a well deserved cold drink and a top quality buffet dinner with help from the friendly staff.

Only 4 of our group scored 36 points or above and the average score was around 27 points.

Congratulations to the following winners:

Personally it was great to see you all again after several months away from golf.

Let’s hope we get a good roll up for the Newcastle match which will be followed by Stonecutters Ridge on Wednesday the 10th of May 2023.

Happy Golfing
