Captain's Report

Captain’s Report – The Lakes Golf Club 21/07/2025

With The Lakes being one of Sydney’s iconic golf venues it was very disappointing to only muster up 20 players for this game.

With so few players the club was unable to offer us our usual dinner after the game, although the sandwiches and drink before the game were appreciated.

Aside from the low numbers the players who turned up were treated to wonderful weather and fabulous conditions for golf.

As expected, the Lakes was once again in perfect condition with immaculate fairways and excellent greens.

Since our last game here there has been a major renovation which makes the course even more spectacular but also more difficult.

Due to our reduced numbers, we trimmed back on the prize vouchers, with yours truly managing 39 points to take out the individual and the mystery two ball going to Peter Shield and Laurie Dapice, combining for 45 points.

Visitor Joe Leonardi, apparently a par three specialist, collected both nearest the pin prizes.

Six of us ventured to a local pub in Mascot for a meal on the way home and unfortunately this may be the way of the future if numbers don’t increase.

Our next game is at St Michaels on Wednesday the 10th of September and don’t forget to check out the updated leader board for the Road to Concord with only two games to go before the finale in December.
