Captain’s Report – Bonnie Doon Golf Club 13/06/2024
Winter weather conditions were forecast for our return to this great course and that is pretty much what we got with a cold southerly blowing all day and most players going for jackets and beanies.
We managed a field on 22 players for today’s game which was lower than expected although recent wet weather may have turned some members off.
Playing from the white markers many of the par 4s played very long into the breeze and as we know the test really begins once you get near the green on this course. There is often a murmur that the greens have been tricked up a little too much since the redevelopment of Bonnie Doon, with a straight putt being extremely rare.
The combination of the greens and the wind made scoring difficult with no player breaking there handicap, and an average score of 30 points across the field.
Good to see the group of Paul Nikitaras, Richard Harris, Portia Hill and her partner Martin returning after a few years absence. Portia still has her impressive game with 31 points playing off a handicap of 3.
There was plenty of positive interest in the mystery stableford multiplier event which kept everyone amused throughout the game.
The club provided a hearty buffet dinner and a good day was enjoyed by all attendees.
Congratulations to the following winners:

Derek Nolan (10) 35 points
