Continual rain for the first eight days of May this year made for a nervous wait to see firstly if Stonecutters was open for play and secondly what would the condition of the course would be.

Both questions were answered very positively, with the course not only open but with full access for carts and apart from very little run on the fairways, the course was in great nick.

The only slight disappointment of the day was the low numbers willing to have a round at the quality track. We managed 16 players who were all looking forward to the game.

Rain was predicted and held off for the most part other than three very wet holes about a third of the way into the game. Everyone got a little wet, but this didn’t seem to dampen our spirits too much.

Scores were below par due to the heavy conditions, but once in the clubhouse enjoying a drink with warm dry clothes on, all was well.

Stonecutters accommodated our small group with a great meal and the proshop and club staff are always a pleasure to deal with.
