Captain’s Report – NSW Golf Club
The first game of 2018 at the majestic NSW club was much anticipated by members and guests, especially with the appalling weather we have had for this game in the previous 2 years.
This time it was a classic Sydney summers day with blue skies and a gentle North-Easter by the 1 pm shotgun start.
31 players assembled for a group photo before the start, with all excited to be teeing up for another year of master builders golf.
The committee and club extend our thanks to Jane Dyson for joining us to take some promotional photos and video, which we hope to use to gain more exposure within the master builders association. The presence of a camera seemed to have an effect on some of the swings, some better, some worse.
The course was presented in fantastic condition with immaculate fairways and true greens. By halfway the gentle breeze had turned into a solid wind, more than enough to really effect the flight of the golf ball, and of course this had an impact on the scores.
Only 14 of the 31 players achieved 30 points or more with only 3 players shooting their handicap or better.
It was great to see John Lyras joining us for a game. John is one of the country’s top young amateurs and managed to shoot 2 under par and impressed all who watched him play. Also, we welcomed the Newcastle boys who enjoyed the day.
After the game the club provided an excellent buffet dinner which was enjoyed by all.
Congratulations to the following winners:
Mark McNamara / 36 points

Matt Huckerby / 33 points
John Lyras / 46 points and Gary Reid / 46 points
