Captain’s Report – Terry Hills
The golf gods made up for last year providing perfect weather for the 42 master builder golfers all assembled for the 1pm shot gum start.
The course was in picture perfect condition, with slick greens and generous fairways, although they were still recovering from the recent renovation.
The days event was made more interesting with the introduction of the pink ball comp and the longest drive competition. Thanks go out to Troy Loh from Matrix group and Barry Morcom from DPO for inviting a dozen visitors between them to boost the numbers to a respectable level. The great conditions meant some excellent scores were produced and many of the field shot to their handicap or better.
Congratulations to the following winners:
Chris Ball / 40 points CB
Ray Griggs / 40 points
Wayne Tilley / 38 points
2 Ball Aggregate Winners
Henry Posch / Nigel Penrose / 74 points
2 Ball aggregate runners up
Ken McCurrach / Mark McNamara / 71 points
Best visitor score
Neil Frost / 50 points NTP (sponsored by matrix group)
Pink Ball competition winners
Tim Hooper / Mark Porreca / Henry Posch / Nigel Penrose / 39 points
It was great to see most golfers taking advantage of the finger food and drink after the game, with the AGM only taking a few additional minutes. Congratulations to the committee who were all re-elected and welcome to Troy Loh who joins us on the committee and I am sure his input will be most valuable.
Just to inform you of a few new initiatives introduced by the committee for the year ahead, firstly the club will provide prizes for the next 12 months from club funds to make each game more affordable for members. In addition to that we are introducing an incentive where each member who introduces a new member plays the following game for free.
Once again, thanks to the sponsors for their support and I look forward to seeing you all for our last game of the year at Concord on Thursday 1st of December.
Yours in Golf,
